Message from the Leaders

Ord Terrace Families,

We can't wait to see ALL of our Ord Terrace Students and families at our Back to School Night on Monday, August 24th from 5:30-7:00!!

Please join us in the cafeteria for a presentation at 5:30, then visit classrooms from 6:00-7:00. Be sure to visit your student's classroom and sign in for a prize. The class with the highest attendance will earn a popsicle party! There will be food, prizes, and community partners. We hope your family will celebrate kicking off the 2026-2027 school year with us!

Join our first Community Schools Advisory Council/School Site Council meeting of the year on Thursday, August 27th 5:00-7:00 p.m! This council helps make decisions that impact the whole school! The goals for this year are below. The main focus is to help families feel welcome and help students feel empowered and in charge of their learning! Dinner will be served at the meeting. Anybody is welcome to attend! You can also attend on Zoom using this link.

If you would like to volunteer for the school or for your child's class, please try to attend the volunteer orientation this Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. There will be other orientations coming up soon!

Have a wonderful week ahead!!

Respectfully,

Mr. Sampson - Principal
Ms. Cecchi - Assistant Principal
Ms. Blaze - Community School Coordinator

REMINDER: School Supply Donations

Everything your child needs to be successful will be provided for them this year, including pencils, paper, crayons, etc.

However, we are grateful for donations! If you are willing and able to donate, it would be very helpful! The supplies that each grade level is requesting can be found at the end of this newsletter.

Independent Study Change/Absences

We are now able to offer short term independent study but only if the work is given ahead of time, and the packet must be returned the day the student returns. Otherwise, the student will not get credit. If the absences are for unexcused reasons, and the work is not submitted in time, then the absences must be marked as unexcused and could trigger a truancy notice.

If you are interested in short-term independent study, please contact Mrs. Santiago (Luisa) in ParentSquare.

CELEBRATION OF CULTURE!

Ord Terrace students like Angel A. celebrated their pride in their culture by performing at the annual Salinas Oaxaca cultural festival held at Natividad Creek Park. He and other OTE students like Mia M. performed dances that showcased the rich heritage and diversity Ord Terrace has to offer! We are so proud of them! GOOOOOO Otters!
